Spring 2026 is Arriving

The warmth of spring is breaking through the dark clouds here in Portugal. It’s been one challenging winter and we are ready for new growth to begin. From hurricane strength wind and long persistent rain, the country needs time to take stock of the damage. Including us too, we have suffered damage to our special retreat house but we will repair and keep going, as this is what will bring life to the community, a way forward. Just know every time you come to a class, workshop or retreat, it gives vital energy to continue hosting spaces to practice yoga.

So whats happening at MoY and Mandira these next few months? We have so much yoga to share and pass on the knowledge!

Beginning with International Guest teacher Vinay Jesta he will be here from 7th-16th March. With 2 x Workshops (8th March, 11th March), 5 x Master Classes (daily 9th-13th March) and a Yin Yoga Teacher Training (13th-16th March) there is something for everyone on this special visit. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn from Vinay.

10 Years of Being Here

This week we are finalising the classes for 2025 and as I sit here, I reflect upon the decade that MoY has become, 10 years of sharing our lives in this small yet profoundly deep space of yoga. There are no words that describe this feeling but I will endeavour to share (on our socials) some of the stories that have kept us going. The courage and determination, the highs and lows, the heart beat of the studio~ which is the practitioners and teachers along with the thousands of hours of practice held here. Yoga brings life to this room, to this building, to our Ginjinha Street of Lisboa. What an absolute wild wave that we’ll continue to ride in the forseeable future.

To celebrate the space that has held many souls along their Lisbon Life Journey, there will be a festa. In our usual birthday style of donation classes, a community gathering, with the teachers guiding you through some of their best work. Let’s Celebrate 10 Years of Ministry of Yoga on Sunday 11th January 2026. Come for a class and hang out at lunch break to chat and swap MoY stories.

Our studio will close between Sunday 21st Dec 2025, the winter solstice a time for pausing and reflecting… maybe even hibernating. Reopening with a special Yintention event led by Daya Lupinacci on Sunday 4th January 2026. Our full schedule of classes recommence on Monday 5th January 2026.

Now 2026 wont just be a usual year….. there is something big bubbling under the surface that we know will light your fire and inspire your practice. For the first time ever, Ministry of Yoga will host a Teacher Training (YTT) here in Lisbon with both 30hr Yin YTT and 200hr Foundation YTT. You will be able to come and immerse yourself in yogic knowledge, co-facilitated by your own MoY teacher Zoe Taylor and International Yoga Teacher Vinay Jesta. Zoe and Vinay connected 8 years ago as Vinay guided an advanced teacher training in Poland in which Zoe attended. It’s such an honour to teach by the side of your teacher, sharing the yogic knowledge and making it accessible locally. The first training is Yin YTT 30hour, 13th-16th March, Vinay will also lead numerous workshops and master classes whilst he is here in Lisbon from 6th-16th March, such as Inversions, Backbends and 5 Elements. The 200hr YTT will be held later in 2026 and we are taking expression of interest from now.

At MoY we take pride in providing a space where you feel seen and welcomed as a practitioner of yoga. Coming together from many walks of life, we are here to continue to reflect on yogic traditions as well as modern adaptations, a practice that is enduring not just a trend, something for future generations to know and feel in their lifetime.

Back to Balance

As the peak of summer heat passes once again, we find ourselves shifting into a different phase of interaction. September almost feels like a new beginning, a new year in itself, yet carries the scent of the familiar. The steady balanced routines begin again. Planning the week of work and of service, moments to move and meditate, moments to be and to do. As we reflect on how we can grow in offering you the practices of yoga of what you need, when you need it, the next evolution of our teachings and your opportunity to study begins to show.

At our yoga studio in the heart of the city, we will continue with the daily dose of practices (25 classes per week) and longer format workshops. Then, when we can we’ll head out to the country side to the literal ‘Centre of Portugal’ for weekend retreats. A small independent owner led yoga business that looks to pass on the knowledge of yoga when and how we can.

Yoga Everyday in Lisbon Portugal

Looking for a place to practice yoga in the town centre of Lisbon, Portugal? Whilst traveling in 2013, Zoe the founder of Ministry of Yoga planted a Sankulpa (intention) to teach yoga everyday in Lisbon. It took 18months to move life from Australia and another 5 months to find a space, this came to fruition when she opened a small studio in Rossio, January 2016. Yes! for almost 10 years we have been filling the studio with both Portuguese locals and visiting yogis alike. The secret to longevity is to keep it simple, max. 10 yoga mats (no rental required), props, 4 walls, a bathroom and a team of incredible teachers with diverse backgrounds and an immense passion for yoga. If you are looking for a genuine space that puts you and the practice in the centre of what they do and teach, then you’ve found it!

Join us for a 3 class trial for €30 (or memberships and more found here), at the start of class let us know about your current practice or if you are a beginner, our teachers are well versed in being adaptable. One of the many benefits of smaller classes is we truly get to connect.

Yoga the word, is roughly translated to Union we believe in keeping this alive, uniting people in presence from around the world. Whether you live in Lisbon or passing through, we want to meet you. Every week we study a new topic of philosophy and highlight one Asana (posture) to deep dive, keeping our classes both educational and practical. Exploring all limbs of yoga.

Nurture Your Spirit in 2025

There are many things in life that seem to damage, dent or even break our spirit. The pressures of day to day existence, natural disasters, diseases, grief of loss, but perhaps the biggest one for me is how people treat and behave towards other people. It breaks my spirit to see humans intentionally causing suffering towards other humans, in this day and age, should almost be eradicated. Whether it’s inside a family home or separated parenting, a workplace, a city, country or between countries. We must do our best to reduce human suffering towards each other. This can be achieved through becoming more conscious of the impact of our thoughts, words and actions towards others. I get it, no one is perfect and mistakes are made, but this is why we practice yoga. To open our mind to compassion, to contemplate on life, to move energy in the body (including hormones and neurotransmitters), to feel steady and at ease in life.

Ministry of Yoga is dedicated to providing you a space to do this, a place where you can come and nurture your spirit back into joy and reinforce positive imprints (samskaras) on your soul. It’s time to focus on spiritual health along with physical and mental wellbeing.

We have daily classes at the studio in Lisbon, Portugal. Ranging from dynamic, invigorating practices such as Rocket, Vinyasa, Flow and Kundalini, to balancing energetic practices like Hatha and YinYang, to meditative and deep release of Yin and Restorative yoga. In our classes and retreats, you can find Philosophy, Postures, Breathwork and Meditations (8 Limbs of Yoga).

Please note between 13th Feb-8th March Zoe (studio owner) will be visiting family and will still be responding to messages and emails. Please allow for up to a 12hour delay due to timezone difference. Any other concerns speak directly with the teachers at the studio.
